My Baby Boy

Not such a baby anymore. He's growing up. And with those huge, hazelish eyes, don't you just want to eat him up? Especially with his huge smiles and his little girly giggles...he's simply irresistible! He's rolling and twisting everywhere!! And even though Savy can be quite diligent in laying down a blanket for him, he's off of it in seconds. He eats everything, and has a taste for electronics and cords. He likes to get his groove on and will bounce or rock out the minute music is turned or his big sister begins singing "Happy Birthday." Dexter now knows how to get our attention, and will squeal or cry if he can't reach his toys. Still absolutely toothless. But his toothless grins are the best!!

My heart is wrapped around his little finger...which leaves me wondering....how many fingers can my heart be wrapped around?

Party like it's 1980!

We all can agree that the 80's were an awful time for clothing. So why are some of the style's coming back? Shanda didn't have to travel too far in the mall to find clothes that would suite the 80's theme. Her family came up for the weekend, and we left the chitlins with a sitter so we could go dance the night away at a friend's 80's birthday party. We looked ridiculous. And we danced ridiculously...but we had a blast. (It's so much easier to be a nerd and dance like a dork when nobody knows you and when you look hilarious.)

Can you even recognize these studly men or their hot dates?

Aside from dressing up, we had a great time with the Bezzants. Savy would wake up and ask about "my Bezzants" and would scream and jump up and down when Carter or Brexten wandered upstairs. I miss being close to my family, but it's nice, because when we do see them, we get to see them for days straight instead of just a few hours. Thanks Bezzants for coming to play!!

As I watch my children grow up, I'm constantly looking for the next milestone. And the littlest accomplishment can make me so happy and so proud. And so sad at the same time...because it means they're growing up. Not staying little like I'd want them to. This little guy just accomplished the feat of rolling over from his back to his tummy. And just like that...I have another mobile child. He no longer stays nicely on this blanket playing with his toys. Now he's off to finding bigger and better things far away from the comfort of his padded blankets. And since we've only got hardwood floor and tile on our main floor...he's going to end up with quite a few bonks on his head (cause even when I lay out multiple blankets to roll around on, he still finds his way off. every time)!

Savy's Music Tastes

We like music at our house. At home and on the road. Since becoming a mom, my tastes have not altered. Savy listens to the music we listen to (with a few songs skipped over). One morning, she's walking around the house saying, "I can't sleep. I can't sleep. There is a ghost in my house." Sammy and I look at each other and think..."what is this girl talking about?" Then it hit me. Band of Horses. There is a Ghost in My House. A great song. And she'd picked it up. The thing is, this isn't one of the songs we listen to over and over. Just one we enjoy when it comes on. So if she's picking up the lyrics to this song, what other songs does she have in that head of hers? Well, these are the three she's asked for in the last week:

1. The Ghost song (There is a Ghost in My House by Band of Horses)
2. You and I by Angry Michaelson (actually Ingrid Michaelson)
and 3. Apeman (by the Format).

And she sings along to them. (which I find totally awesome). If you're unfamiliar with any of these songs, I suggest checking them out. If I was a better blogger, I might find the links for you. But I'm not. So I leave it up to you to go and hear the songs that have captured my 2 1/2 year old's heart. You won't be disappointed.
